Job Duties

Manages and drives the overall success of the release management cycle, which requires a solid technical background and an understanding of the overall software lifecycle. Analyze the business needs of all stakeholders to determine their technology needs, identify additional stakeholders, document all needs, and prioritize them.

Responsible for planning and executing overall releases. Assess the current infrastructure and service integrations to meet the application needs identified during the initial phase. Identify specific technologies or innovations required to meet those needs or mitigate associated risks. Propose new solutions to reduce costs and failures, eliminate complexities and uncertainties, and increase adoption.

Work across cross-functional teams and environments to plan feature releases according to the release schedule. Ensure the availability, maintenance, and monitoring of pre-production environments. Coordinate with development teams to make sure builds occur according to the release plan, unit test cases are executed before builds become available in the QA environment, and development sign-off is provided.

Work closely with Quality Assurance testing teams to track QA progress and obtain mandatory project sign-off. Work closely with CI/CD engineers to develop orchestration systems that reduce friction in software delivery to production. Communicate release expectations across all impacted users. Prepare and manage all release communications with internal resources and third parties or vendors. Plan and monitor work across multiple departments to ensure release readiness.

Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, working under minimal supervision. Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures. Oversee all technology operations, including development, QA, and operations, and evaluate them according to established goals.

Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques. Perform risk management to minimize project risks. Monitor progress, identify impediments, and update the project plan with constraints including cost, time, and scope. Perform application management and performance monitoring. Coordinate meetings and assist with IT application development prioritization for each fiscal year.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and five years of progressive, post baccalaureate work experience. The employer will also accept a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and three years of related work experience.
